When traveling through western South Dakota, turn off of I-90 at Exit 131, which is also the entrance to the Badlands National Park. Here you will find the “Badlands Trading Post” and Conoco gas station. This is truly where the west still lives.

Badlands National Park

We are located in western South Dakota, just 3 miles from one of the nation’s most amazing natural wonders. Badlands National Park is one of the world’s richest fossil beds containing many geologic deposits. Ancient mammals such as the rhino, horse, and saber-toothed cat once roamed here. The park’s 244,000 acres protect an expanse of mixed-grass prairie where bison, bighorn sheep, deer, pronghorn, prairie dogs, and black-footed ferrets live today.
